What is lenox globe?

The Lenox Globe is a 16th-century globe, made around 1503 by German cartographer Martin Waldseemüller. It is one of the oldest globes to show the New World, depicting the newly-discovered lands of North and South America. The globe is named after its former owner, James Lenox, who purchased it in 1855 and donated it to the New York Public Library in 1892. It is made of copper and plaster and measures about 4 inches in diameter. The Lenox Globe is considered an important artifact of early exploration and cartography.
